2About these terms
These terms apply when you visit yazidiatschool.org, register for a class, take part in Yazidis in Conversation, use our learning platform at moodle.yazidiatschool.org, apply to volunteer or make a donation.
By using our website or services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
3Our classes and programmes
We offer free online English classes and skills courses for Yazidi students, taught by volunteer teachers. Our programmes are free of charge and always will be.
- Places depend on the number of volunteer teachers available, so we cannot guarantee a place in every class or at every level.
- Class times, levels and teachers can change during a term.
- Certificates are issued by Yazidi At School according to the attendance and assessment rules explained on our What We Teach page.
4Students
When you register or take part in a class, you agree to:
- give correct information when you register;
- treat your teachers and classmates with respect, online and in any class group chat;
- keep class links, passwords and Moodle login details to yourself;
- not record, photograph or share a class, or share other people's names, photos or messages, without their permission.
Students under 18 need permission from a parent or guardian to take part.
If a student repeatedly breaks these rules, we may remove them from a class or programme.
5Volunteers
Teachers, conversation partners, mentors and other volunteers agree to:
- act professionally and kindly, and respect the culture, faith and experiences of our students;
- keep students' personal information private and use it only for their volunteer role;
- communicate with students through the channels agreed with Yazidi At School;
- not record classes or take screenshots that show students without their permission;
- tell us straight away about any concern for a student's safety or wellbeing.
Volunteering is unpaid and does not create an employment relationship with Yazidi At School. We may end a volunteer role if these terms are not followed.
6Donations
- Online donations are processed by Donorbox and its payment partners. We never see or store your card details.
- Donations are voluntary gifts, used to support our charitable work: devices, connectivity, teaching platforms and running our programmes.
- You can change or cancel a recurring donation at any time through your Donorbox account, or by emailing us.
- If you think you made a donation by mistake, please contact us as soon as possible so we can look at it.
- We do not give tax advice. Please check with your own tax adviser.
7Device donations
When you donate a laptop, tablet or phone, it becomes the property of Yazidi At School and is given to a student free of charge. Please remove your personal files and sign out of your accounts before handing the device over.

10Your personal information
When you fill in one of our forms, we receive information such as your name, email address, phone number and, for volunteers, your CV. We use this information only to run our programmes, respond to you and organise volunteering, and we handle it in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you by emailing info@yazidiatschool.org.
Read our privacy policy for the full details.
11Other services we use
Our programmes use services run by other companies, such as Moodle, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft 365, WhatsApp and Donorbox, and our website links to social media. When you use them, their own terms and privacy policies also apply. We are not responsible for how those services work.
12Liability
We are a volunteer-run charity and provide our website, classes and materials as they are. As far as Dutch law allows, we are not liable for indirect damage or loss that results from using our website or services.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under the law.
13Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If we make an important change, we will mention it on our website.
14Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. If you have a complaint, please contact us first, and we will do our best to solve it together.
If we cannot resolve it, the dispute will be handled by the competent court in the Netherlands. If you live in another country, this does not take away any protection you have under the laws of that country.
