2Our objective, target group and mission

The main goal of Yazidi@School is to increase access to education, work, and self-sufficiency for Yazidi students, both within and outside IDP camps.

Our target groups

• Young women and men who were abducted as teenagers by ISIS and never had the opportunity to continue their education
• Both men and women who have been displaced since the genocide and never had the opportunity to earn their English diploma
• Local Yazidi teachers who want to be better qualified to teach English (proficiency and methodology)
• All people in the Yazidi community in IDP camps who lack financial or material resources to pursue other education

Our mission

The foundation's mission is to increase access to education, work, and self-sufficiency for Yazidi students. By offering English language lessons and digital skills, the foundation supports them in building a new life within or outside IDP camps.

Our vision

At Yazidi@School, we believe that education is the key to restoring a future perspective. The vision is that all young people and adults in the Yazidi community in Iraqi-Kurdistan deserve the same opportunities for accessible education as people from other communities in Iraq.

3Our main activities

• Facilitating online English language lessons for all levels (from A1 to C2)
• Recruitment and training of volunteer (international) teachers
• Training of volunteer Yazidi teachers
• Distribution of digital resources: smartphones, printers, laptops, and learning platforms
• Collaboration with Sinjar Academy, local NGOs, and educational institutions
• Preparation for official language exams (CEFR A1–C2)
• Introduction of computer skills
• Distribution of donated educational materials
• Annual music sessions with recorder lessons in the camps

5Our compensation policy

• Board members and teachers receive no salary. All work is done on a voluntary basis.
• Expense reimbursement: Reasonable, documented expenses incurred in the course of activities are reimbursed where appropriate.
• Paid staff: One IT/Website contractor receives compensation for specialized IT services, including website management, all registrations, all IT Training needed for teachers and students.

6Report of activities: 2023–2026

Yazidi@School Foundation is a Dutch non-profit organization dedicated to providing free education, technology, and international mentorship to Yazidi students in Iraqi-Kurdistan.

Results achieved

Student groups

• 850+ students reached since foundation in 2023
• In 2026 alone: 478 new students enrolled (approximately 60% growth compared to 2025)
• 300+ certificates issued since 2023
• 150+ devices (smartphones, laptops, printers) distributed to students

Volunteers

• 16 active teachers
• Volunteer team roughly doubled in 2026
• Volunteer board with members from the Netherlands, Germany, and Austria
• All activities carried out on a voluntary basis; no salaries for teachers or board members

Activities

Organization

The foundation is led by a volunteer board and a growing team of international teachers. The organization is entirely focused on direct student support, with minimal administrative overhead. One paid IT contractor supports website management and technical matters.

Financial efficiency

• No salaries paid for board or teachers
• Costs reduced to essential services and student support
• Material assistance: selected expenditures for devices and connectivity
• Volunteer work: core source of operational capacity

All funds received were used directly to support our mission.

Expenditures covered

• Digital infrastructure (platforms, hosting, repairs) enabling online lessons
• Device distribution and shipping to Yazidi students in IDP camps
• Volunteer coordination and event costs
• No salaries were paid to board members or teachers, in accordance with our Remuneration Policy. All teachers and board members serve voluntarily.
