Our Classes
Yazidi@school offers free English courses for the Yazidi community, focusing on communication in an English-Only environment. Reading is essential for learning a foreign language, so it plays a key role in our classes. Through meaningful books, you will expand, strengthen, and improve your English skills while engaging more deeply with the world around you.
Basic Communicative English Course A1 – A2
With these basic courses you will be able to talk about yourself, your family and friends, and ask questions. Essential vocabulary and grammar will get you started. You will progress to having real conversations. These courses help you to have much needed foundation which is missing if you learn English from watching movies.
Intermediate Communicative English B1 – B2
You will become comfortable understanding and speaking about a wider range of contents, including personal opinions and other informal discussions. Your reading will become close to a C1 level
Advanced Communicative English C1 – C2
You will be able to understand complex texts and speak on completely new topics spontaneously. And become a near native communicator in impromptu settings. You will learn much about the world, the arts, history and more. Then continue to comprehend a wide range of complex and lengthy texts. Fluent and spontaneous communication on social, academic, and professional contexts is the aim.
Teacher Education
This one-year Teacher Education Program provides the highest-quality professional development for Yazidi teachers of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). The program connects theory and practice with a deep understanding of the language teaching context in Yazidi communities in Iraq. This program is for degreed Yazidi teachers.
Yazidis in Conversation
Yazidis in Conversation is a 10-week program within Yazidi@School offering one-on-one English practice. Students meet weekly online with a fluent English speaker to discuss real-world topics, build confidence, and improve their conversational skills. Open to all levels, from A1 to C2.
Computer Skills
In this 8-week course, participants develop essential computer skills for everyday use. The training covers basic computer operation, internet navigation, file and folder management, and the use of common software such as word processors, spreadsheets, and presentation tools. By the end of the course, learners are able to confidently apply these skills in work, study, and daily life.
Soft Skills Class: Presentations, Resumes, Interviews and Emails
Strong communication and professional skills are essential for success in education, job applications, and the workplace. Our Soft Skills Class is designed to help students and young professionals develop the tools they need to express themselves clearly, confidently, and effectively in a variety of real-world situations.
Workshops
Occasionally professional people offer various workshops for the students. This may be from Presentations on the use of AI, to current events, how to search for Scholarships, etc.
